VFC 52 took place Saturday, July 16 at Omaha’s Baxter Arena and live on UFC FIGHT PASS®. Victory’s summer blockbuster included the main event welterweight showdown Maki Pitolo vs. Kassius Kayne and a lineup of seven more professional bouts featuring the Midwest’s best MMA talent.
In the main event, Hawaii’s Maki Pitolo outlasted his short notice replacement, Kassius Kayne, to score a five-round unanimous decision. The victory upped Pitolo’s win column to eight and moved the welterweight prodigy closer to the gates of the UFC® Octagon®.
In the co-main event, the Omaha favorite Dakota Cochrane easily handled Jason Witt at 170 pounds, skillfully forcing a submission via rear-naked choke in the second round. Cochrane bumps his wins to 25 and has won seven of his last eight fights in the cage.
